McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton came through to win the Canadian Grand Prix this afternoon at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the eighth round in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship.

Hamilton, who won in Turkey last time out, now takes the lead in the battle for the F1 2010 drivers’ title. Lewis eventually took P1 by 2.2 seconds, with Jenson Button coming home second to give McLaren another maximum haul.

Fernando Alonso was third for Ferrari, while Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber had to settle for fourth and fifth respectively.

Nico Rosberg completed the top six in his Mercedes followed by Renault man Robert Kubica, Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi and the Force India’s of Vitantonio Liuzzi and Adrian Sutil, the latter two passing Michael Schumacher for P9 and P10 on the final lap.
